service
Every week during term time 2 trained volunteers will read with your child(ren) in your home or on your doorstep. We will also leave a selection of books for you to continue enjoying together, based on your child(ren)'s interests.
BookStart gives FREE children's books and reading resources to families. It helps families to read and share stories with their child from an early age.
BookStart is part of BookTrust, which encourages a love of books, stories and rhymes in children, to enhance their education, health and wellbeing.
Specially tailored packs are available for:
babies (0 to 12 months)
toddlers and pre-schoolers (1 to 4 years old)
children with additional needs (deaf, visual impairments or fine motor skills)
You may receive a pack from your health visitor, children's centre, family hub, library or childcare provider.
BookStart Baby packs: If you didn't get a pack, ask your health visitor or local library. If your library has packs available, you'll need to bring your red book to collect one.
Contact your local BookStart coordinator for any BookStart Baby pack queries, or if you'd like to enquire about a pack for children with additional needs or dual languages.
